Coming to ThriveOn King, JobsWork MKE takes comprehensive approach to employment

In 2024, JobsWork MKE will join the Foundation and other partners in the ThriveOn King building. Its inclusion on the first floor is a direct result of ThriveOn Collaboration visioning sessions, where residents expressed the need for employment support. JobsWork’s unique approach helps members see how they matter as individuals while overcoming barriers to gainful employment.

Responding to community voice for maternal, family well-being

When Dalvery Blackwell, co-founder of the African American Breastfeeding Network, received calls from numerous women who had experienced miscarriages or infant loss, she knew something had to be done. With support from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Blackwell repurposed grant dollars to create Healing Waters. Over the years, both AABN and the Foundation have learned the value of listening to and following community voice in their efforts to build a thriving and healthy Milwaukee.

Foundation and CDA encourage collaboration from all sectors in housing efforts

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation recently received the 2023 HUD Secretary’s Award for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships for its work with the Community Development Alliance. The CDA, which aims to advance racial equity by providing a quality, affordable home for every Milwaukeean, has turned its attention to bridging the housing gap among Black and Brown homeowners in conjunction with Milwaukee’s first collective affordable housing strategic plan.

Cristy Garcia-Thomas of Advocate National Center for Health Equity and Blaine Gibson of WE Wealth Management have joined the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board, while Gregory S. Marcus bids farewell to the Board after nine years of exemplary service.
