Gregory M. Wesley
President & CEO
Gregory M. Wesley, JD, became president and CEO of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in 2024. Prior to assuming this position, Wesley served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors and as co-chair of the ThriveOn Collaboration, representing the Medical College of Wisconsin. For eight years at MCW, Wesley was the inaugural senior vice president for strategic alliances and business development and later added the role of interim general counsel.
Originally from Gary, Indiana, Wesley came to Milwaukee in 1997, joining Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP, a Milwaukee-based, national law firm, as an associate. He advanced to partner and then equity partner, a role he held for 12 years before departing for MCW in 2016.
Personally and professionally, Wesley is committed to building a thriving community where cross-sector relationships between business, civic, philanthropic and public policy entities work together to improve lives.
Wesley currently serves on the boards of Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (Immediate Past Chair), Teach for America Milwaukee (Chair), Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Greater Milwaukee Committee, Black Arts Fest MKE, Milwaukee World Festivals Inc., Trust for Professional Managers, MHS Health Wisconsin, and Versiti Inc. Notably, he served for seven years as a member of the MCW board of trustees as one of its youngest members. Wesley is also currently a trustee for the Johnson Foundation at Wingspread.
He has also provided capital campaign and fundraising leadership as a member or co-chair for: United Way Community Campaign; the United Performing Arts Fund Community Campaign; African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin Legacy Campaign; Safe & Sound “A Night to Unite: The Power of Community;” and Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Gala.
His many honors and achievements include: 2007 Milwaukee Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree and 2019 Hall of Fame; 2016 Wisconsin Law Journal Leader in Law; 2022 African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin “Business Champion Award;” 2023 BizTimes Milwaukee Notable Nonprofit Board Leaders.
Wesley attended Indiana University-Bloomington where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1992. He earned his law degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School in 1997. Greg and his spouse have two children.
